An antique Japanese Ko-Imari porcelain plate dating to the Edo period (circa 17th–18th century). The work is executed in the refined Ruri Kinsai technique, combining deep cobalt-blue glaze with rich hand-applied gilding. The plate features an elegant rinpa-inspired scalloped (rinka) rim.

The central decoration depicts a Nambanjin ("Southern Barbarians") scene, representing European merchants or travellers in period attire set within a traditional Japanese landscape of bamboo and pine. Such imagery reflects the historic encounters between Japan and the Western world during the early modern era and remains highly sought after by collectors of Japanese export art.

Particular importance is attached to the five original kiln spur marks visible on the reverse. These firing supports are characteristic of early Arita production and are considered an important indicator of period manufacture.
